Maximum optimization of biological filtration

Sera Siporax is a game changing media for the saltwater aquarist. 

With its cylindrical design, it is a beneficial bacterias dream, by allowing more surface area to “breakdown” the natural pollutants found in your aquarium, such as fish waste.

Siporax vs Ceramic Rings:  

Siporax have “open pores” that allow air and water to pass through and gives more surface area for bacteria to grow.  

Ceramic rings have closed pores that only allow air and water to skim the surface, therefor only allowing bacteria to settle on the surface.

For optimal performance, the recommended amount of media is 1 Litre or 1,000ml per 20 gallons of aquarium volume.

Once you add your Siporax, monitor your Nitrates (NO3) and Phosphates (PO4), once the Siporax starts to grow the beneficial bacteria, your nutrients should start to lower.

Tips and Tricks: 

1. Rinse well in RODI water before adding to your aquarium.
2. When adding Siporax, add beneficial bacteria such as Bacto Blend or ReBiotic by Fauna Marin to help boost your bacteria bio load and help seed your new media.  This will speed up the benefits you will get from the product.
3. Once a month, gently shake your Siporax bag to prevent any detritus from settling and clogging the pores.  This is true for any media, and should already be part of your regular maintenance.
4. Buying in bulk?  Placing the media in a white cotton mesh bag will help with maintenance and cleaning.
